BioEquify
Pre-launch · Norway pilot · Forest carbon, measured

Measure the forest, not the promise.

BioEquify turns Norway's public airborne laser scans into auditable, parcel-level carbon stock reports. Every number on this site has a source, a date and a test. Hover any figure to see where it came from.

Pre-launch, pre-revenue. No customers, pilots or enrolled hectares yet.

Start with what the laser actually saw.

Area-weighted standing volume across the public Nordmarka stands. Not a model, not a promise: NIBIO SR16, open under NLOD.

Range · the error bar stays in

Every stand carries its own uncertainty.

Published SR16 stand-level biomass error. We carry it through to every stock figure, both as independent and as fully shared error.

Threshold · say no when we must

Below this, we withhold the number.

Change between two scans is only reported when the portfolio is large enough to separate real growth from SR16 noise.

01 · The tension

Forest carbon has a trust problem.

Owners, cooperatives, buyers and auditors cannot agree on one number, or see where it came from. That is the gap we work on.

Satellites saturate in dense boreal forest
Avoided-harvest credits are discredited
EU law bans offset-based neutrality claims
02 · The unfair advantage

Norway already scanned its forests. Nobody turned that into trust.

NIBIO publishes laser-scan forest data for the whole country, calibrated on national inventory plots and open under NLOD. The hard part is no longer seeing the trees. It is producing one number everyone accepts.

03 · Say the hard part

Continuous cover is not a carbon win by default.

We publish the evidence against easy claims, including our own. So we lead with drained peatland forest and afforestation, where the carbon case does not depend on cutting less.

Growth vs rotation forestry, mineral soils

Lundqvist 2017; Skogsstyrelsen 2023/10; Hynynen et al. 2025. Long-run stock roughly equal; clear gains on drained peatland.

Modelled uplift, not certified

04 · Who pays

Measure the forest. Control the claim.

Distribution goes through the forest-owner cooperatives that owners already trust.

owners in four cooperatives handle about of the timber trade.

Paid by the buyer

The buyer of the assessment pays for the measurement, whatever the forest shows.

Never by the result

Credit sellers and raters earn more from a bigger number. We do not.

A human signs it

AI carries the data work; a forester and an accredited verifier own the sign-off.

Measure first. Then talk about money.

Before

Credit-first

  • Promises a tonnage before anything is measured
  • Satellite proxies that saturate in dense boreal forest
  • Avoided-harvest baselines nobody can check
  • Point values without uncertainty
  • Numbers live in slides, not in tests
BioEquify

Measure-first

  • Nothing is claimed before a measurement exists
  • National airborne laser scans calibrated on inventory plots
  • Change only reported when the portfolio is large enough to see it
  • Every figure shown with its range, source and date
  • Every number has a claim id, a recheck date and a test

Why it matters: three goals, measured honestly.

How we work →
13Sustainable Development Goal

Climate Action

Forest carbon measured with honest uncertainty, so climate claims rest on numbers a regulator and an auditor can check.

15Sustainable Development Goal

Life on Land

We lead with drained peatland forest and afforestation, and never reward clear-cutting or penalise set-aside forest.

12Sustainable Development Goal

Responsible Consumption and Production

Contribution-only claims and a public claims register make corporate climate reporting auditable, not aspirational.
