Method

From laser scan to stock to change, with the error bars left in.

An open, tested model on public data. AI does the paperwork; measurement sets the number.

  1. i

    Stand inventory from SR16

NIBIO SR16 publishes stem volume, above- and below-ground biomass and their standard errors per stand, from airborne laser scans calibrated on national inventory plots.

  2. ii

    Biomass to carbon stock

Where SR16 biomass exists we use it directly: biomass × carbon fraction × CO2/C. The literature conversion per cubic metre is a cross-check, not the input.

  3. iii

    Uncertainty, carried through

Stand errors are combined twice: as if independent (best case) and as if fully shared (worst case). We report both ranges. No bare point values.

  4. iv

    Change, only when visible

Change between two SR16 scans is reported only for portfolios large enough to see it above the noise. Below that, the panel refuses to show a number.

Regulation, dated

Designed to align with the CRCF. Not certified.

  • CRCF regulation is in force at EU level.
  • Carbon-farming methodologies adopted , not yet in force, and none for forest management.

  • Consumer-claims rules (EmpCo) apply in the EU from .

Forest carbon is carbon farming: temporary storage. Under ESRS E1, credits are disclosed separately and never netted against gross emissions.

We can say
  • Measured stock change, with its uncertainty.
  • Modelled uplift, not certified.
  • Built on Norway's public laser-scan data (NLOD, NIBIO).
  • Paid for measuring, never for the result.
We never say
  • Carbon neutral
  • Offset your emissions
  • Net zero with us
  • Certified credits
  • Guaranteed income
  • AI-calculated carbon
